No honestly when I go on business trip, I just remove the grip of my camera and put on the small 50mm 1.8 and here you go, as good as a P&S.

Well YES it did happen to me BUT I was going to Dubai for the xth time and not to Moscow

Come on, you didn't take a single picture? Don't get me wrong, i understand why u don't bring your whole gear but u should have at least a backup. I've never been to Moscow but even Warsaw has so many nice places. Take a look. And that picture was taken with a Canon Digital Ixus 2 which fits in every pocket.

I don’t know about Warsaw but Moscow is a great place (right now I’m imaging it in snow), so I would never miss the chance to take shots there If I had the opportunity to go.
I do think that carrying heavy gear may spoil the fun, but for some shots there, I would still carry my D40x with 18-55mm lens. As for laziness, I am lazy all the time before going shooting . Once I’m on the field, I totally forget the laziness.
