Project on Blog Statistics – Search Terms
Posted by photonovice on March 3rd, 2008
Blog statistics is something that every blogger keeps at least one eye on. Even non-profit bloggers are checking their numbers regularly as I found it out quite some time ago when my blog was on Wordpress.com, where the most visited part of the whole engine was the statistics page. These are the numbers that we do not understand at the beginning, get addicted to later, crying about sometimes and are hysterically and unreasonably happy about some other times.
But not only the number of unique visitors and daily, weekly and monthly page views are worth to check. There are other things that catch our attention, give ideas or direction and might be interesting for our readers as well.
I invite you – if you happen to write a photography related blog – to participate in a Project on Blog Statistics. The project will consist of three chunks.
In the first chunk photography bloggers are requested to share a few of the most interesting search terms that lead people to their blog.
If you are interested in the project and would like to take part in it all you need to do is these three simple steps:
- Write a post on your own blog about the most shocking, funny, awakening or otherwise special search term or list of terms you noticed in your blog statistics. You might also want to write about how it affected you, what your thoughts or even actions were after reading the mentioned search term. Here is my entry for the project.
- Mention this project in your post and link back to this project page
- Submit your entry below on the Project Entry Form before March 21, 2008
When closing the first chunk of the project I will share a list of links to all the participants’ entries quoting the search term as well on the 26th of March and you might also share the results of the project on your blog.
To make it more tangible and challenging we will take the submission deadline of March 21, 2008 seriously. (I’m sure many of you know the related quote from Douglas Adams: “I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.”
)
Update: The entry form has been closed.
