Yet Another Neat Lightroom 2 Feature?

Posted by photonovice on April 7th, 2008

To be honest I’m not sure at all whether this feature is really new in Lightroom 2 (your comment would be appreciated below). As I wrote earlier I’m not in the version craze and currently I use only Lightroom 1.2.
Lightroom 2 beta detail previewAnyway I noticed it only in Lightroom 2 beta. It’s a simple preview of the detail section where you can adjust noise reduction, chromatic aberration and sharpening. Have a look at the screenshot on the left. You can select the area to be displayed by the preview by dragging the small image.
Before having this preview image in place you had to look at your photo in 1:1 size to check the adjustments you were making and you were not able to see the whole picture at the same time. This is what this feature is good for.

You can find a very good explanation of how to use sharpening in Lightroom on Lightroom-news.com here.
